Connect Slack as a customer support channel

Connect Slack as a two-way customer support channel in Omnifox, separate from workflow notifications.

Jul 11, 2026

This channel is different from the Slack integration you might already use for workflow notifications: here, an external customer DMs your Slack bot (or messages you in a Slack Connect channel), and that conversation shows up in the Omnifox Inbox for an agent to reply to.

Requirements

  • A Slack workspace where you can install apps
  • The "Manage channels" permission in Omnifox

Steps to connect

  1. In Omnifox, go to Channels → Connect New Channel and pick Slack.
  2. Click Connect with Slack — you're redirected to Slack to authorize the installation on your workspace.
  3. Choose the workspace and accept the requested permissions (sending messages, reading DMs and channels).
  4. Slack sends you back to Omnifox; the channel goes live automatically, with nothing to copy by hand.

Configuration

The entire flow runs through OAuth: Omnifox obtains and stores the bot token during authorization. There are no manual fields to fill in and no webhook to paste into Slack — the event subscription registers itself.

Example

A customer sends a DM to your Slack bot asking for technical support. That message shows up as a new conversation in the Omnifox Inbox, and your agent replies just like on any other channel.

Tips

  • Don't confuse this with the Slack integration used for workflow notifications — that one is outbound-only, this one is fully two-way.
  • If your team also gets internal alerts via Slack, both integrations can run at the same time without conflict.

Troubleshooting

  • No Slack messages reach the Inbox: check in your Slack workspace that the app is still installed with event permissions enabled.
  • Authorization fails: make sure the person installing the app has admin rights on the Slack workspace.
