Import your WhatsApp history with Coexistence

When you pair your number with Coexistence, Meta lets you bring months of prior chats into Omnifox, including media. Here's how the import works.

Jul 11, 2026

Coexistence is the mode that connects Omnifox to a WhatsApp number you keep using from the WhatsApp Business app on your phone too. Part of its value is that it brings your pre-pairing conversation history into the inbox.

What gets imported

  • Text messages, images, videos, audio/voice notes, documents, locations, stickers, and reactions from roughly the last 6 months, depending on what Meta hands back.
  • Media (photos, videos, audio, documents) downloads in the background after the text is already visible in the inbox — it can take a while to fully appear.
  • Imported conversations arrive closed: this is historical context, not a live thread. If the customer writes back, the conversation reopens on its own.

The 24-hour window

Meta only delivers the backlog when Omnifox explicitly requests it from the API right after pairing, and that request is rate-limited per number — if it fails or doesn't arrive, you have to wait and retry later (see the re-pairing article).

Steps

  1. Pair your number under Channels → Connect channel → WhatsApp → Coexistence by scanning the QR code from WhatsApp Business.
  2. Once paired, a sync indicator shows import progress (pending / importing / complete).
  3. Messages appear in their matching conversations as they're processed.

Example

A business pairs its number with 300 active contacts: conversation text shows up first, and over the following minutes photos and voice notes fill in on each chat.

Troubleshooting

If several hours have passed and no history shows up, or the indicator stays stuck on "pending", contact support to verify whether the request to Meta actually completed.
