Instagram: connect via Facebook (with a Page) vs. direct Instagram Login

Omnifox offers two ways to connect Instagram: through Facebook with a linked Page, or with direct Instagram Login and no Page.

Jul 11, 2026

Omnifox supports two different flows for connecting Instagram as a channel, and the right one depends on how your account is set up.

Option 1: Facebook with a Page

You log in with Facebook and Omnifox lists the Pages you manage that have a Professional Instagram account linked. This is the recommended path if your Instagram is already connected to a Facebook Page (the most common setup for businesses).

Option 2: Direct Instagram Login

You authenticate with your Instagram credentials directly, without going through Facebook or needing a linked Page. It uses the instagram_business_basic and instagram_business_manage_messages scopes straight against the Professional/Creator Instagram account.

Requirements

  • A Professional Instagram account (Business or Creator) in both cases.
  • Option 1: a Facebook Page linked to that account.
  • Option 2: no Facebook Page required.

Steps (direct Instagram Login)

  1. In Channels → Connect channel, pick Instagram and choose the direct login option.
  2. Log in with your Instagram username and authorize the permissions.
  3. Omnifox creates the channel using your Instagram username and profile photo as the name.

Example

An Instagram account that never linked a Facebook Page (say, run by a content creator with no Page) can still connect using direct Instagram Login.

Tips

  • If your Instagram is ALREADY linked to a Page, use Option 1 — it's the most stable and battle-tested.
  • Reconnecting the same account doesn't create a duplicate channel; it reactivates the existing one.

Troubleshooting

If you see "Instagram (direct login) is not configured yet", that feature depends on app credentials your Omnifox admin needs to enable — contact support.
