Migrate from WhatsApp Coexistence to Cloud API

Once you no longer need to answer from the WhatsApp Business app on your phone, you can migrate your number to Cloud API without losing history.

Jul 11, 2026

With Coexistence, WhatsApp messages and calls can still be answered from the WhatsApp Business app on your phone in addition to Omnifox. With Cloud API, the number stops depending on the app and is answered exclusively from Omnifox. If your team already works 100% from the inbox, migrating simplifies the operation.

Requirements

  • A WhatsApp channel currently connected in Coexistence mode.
  • Willingness to stop using the WhatsApp Business app on the phone for that number (Cloud API replaces it).
  • channels.manage permission.

Steps

  1. Go to Channels → Connect channel → WhatsApp.
  2. Choose the Migration card (instead of Coexistence or new Cloud API).
  3. Complete Meta's wizard (Embedded Signup), selecting the same number you already use.
  4. Meta transfers the number to Cloud API; the existing Omnifox channel updates automatically, without creating a new one.
  5. Check in Channels that the channel now shows as connected via Cloud API.

Example

A team that started with Coexistence to test the service, and a month later decides all agents will reply only from Omnifox, migrates the number to Cloud API without losing a single message from the already-imported history.

Tips

  • The conversation and contact history you already imported with Coexistence stays intact after migrating.
  • Once migrated to Cloud API, you'll no longer be able to answer that number from the WhatsApp Business app on the phone.

Troubleshooting

If the wizard doesn't find the expected number during migration, verify you're logging in with the same Meta Business Manager account that manages that number.
