WhatsApp messaging tiers (250, 1K, 10K, 100K) and how to level up

Meta limits how many new conversations per day you can start on WhatsApp based on your messaging tier. Here's how tiers naturally go up.

Jul 11, 2026

Every WhatsApp Cloud API number has a messaging tier that defines how many new conversations with distinct customers you can start per day. It's not something you configure manually: Meta assigns it and raises it based on the number's behavior.

Available tiers

  • 250 new conversations per day.
  • 1,000 new conversations per day.
  • 10,000 new conversations per day.
  • 100,000 new conversations per day.
  • An unlimited tier, for very high-volume accounts with sustained quality.

Where to check it

Under Channels, open the WhatsApp channel and check the profile/health tab: it lists the current tier alongside the quality rating.

How tiers go up

Meta raises the tier automatically when a number keeps a good quality rating (not red) while approaching the current tier's limit consistently over several days, without triggering significant blocks or spam reports.

Example

A business starting at the 250 tier that sends around 200-250 new conversations a day for a week while keeping good quality typically sees Meta bump it to the 1,000 tier automatically, with nobody requesting it.

Tips

  • The tier is calculated per phone number, not for the whole business account.
  • Sending content that triggers many blocks or reports can stall the tier increase even if volume is high.

Troubleshooting

If your send volume is hitting the current tier's ceiling and it's not going up, check the number's quality rating — a yellow or red rating stalls the tier increase regardless of volume.
