WhatsApp templates paused or disabled for quality

Meta can automatically pause or disable a WhatsApp template if its quality drops. Here's how to tell the statuses apart and what to do about each.

Jul 11, 2026

After a WhatsApp template is approved, Meta keeps monitoring it. If recipients block or report it often, Meta can pause or disable it automatically without you changing anything in Omnifox.

Paused vs. disabled

  • Paused — the template temporarily stopped sending due to detected low quality. It usually reactivates on its own after a while if Meta re-evaluates it as acceptable.
  • Rejected / disabled — the template becomes more permanently unusable; in practice it's handled like a rejection and you'll need to create a new version.

Where to check it

Under Channels → [your WhatsApp channel] → Templates, each template shows its status and, when applicable, its rejection reason (quality_score, rejected_reason).

Example

A payment-reminder template that many customers block for feeling pushy can get automatically paused; in the meantime, Omnifox won't let you send it until Meta reactivates it or you replace it.

Tips

  • If a template keeps getting paused, review its tone and how often it's sent — that's often a sign it's being used for messages customers don't expect.
  • Keeping alternate templates for the same use case gives you room to maneuver while one is paused.

Troubleshooting

If a template critical to your operation got paused or disabled, create a new version with revised copy instead of waiting for the old one to reactivate, so you don't lose continuity in the automated sends that depend on it.
