Edit a sent WhatsApp message (15-minute window)

Fix a WhatsApp text message you already sent, as long as you're within 15 minutes of sending it.

Jul 11, 2026

Omnifox lets you fix an outbound WhatsApp text message shortly after sending it — say, if you typed the wrong name or amount. This respects Meta's own limit: edits are only possible within 15 minutes of sending.

Requirements

  • The message must be text (this doesn't apply to images, audio, locations, etc.).
  • It must have been sent less than 15 minutes ago.
  • The message must be in sent, delivered, or read status (not failed).
  • Only account owners or admins can edit messages; the server checks the permission in addition to the client.

Steps

  1. Find the sent message and hover over its bubble.
  2. Open the three-dot menu and choose Edit.
  3. In the modal that opens, change the text.
  4. Click Save. The message updates in the conversation with an "Edited" label visible to the customer too.

Example

The agent sent "Your order arrives on the 15th" but meant the 16th. Within 15 minutes, they edit it to "Your order arrives on the 16th" — the customer sees the corrected text with the edited mark, and no duplicate message is created.

Troubleshooting

  • If Edit doesn't appear in the menu, check whether the 15 minutes have already passed — the option disappears once the window closes.
  • If the modal shows an error on save, your role may lack edit permission — ask an admin to check your permissions.
  • The text field can't be left empty; clearing all the content blocks saving.
