Send a contact card (vCard)

Share someone's details (name and phone) as a WhatsApp contact card instead of plain text.

Jul 11, 2026

When you need to pass along someone else's contact info (an advisor, a technician, another branch), you can send it as a WhatsApp contact card instead of typing the number as plain text. The customer can save it to their phone with a single tap.

Requirements

  • Only available on WhatsApp channels.
  • The 24-hour window must be open.
  • The phone number must be in E.164 format (e.g. +15551234567).

Steps

  1. In the composer, open the send contact card button.
  2. Fill in the First name (required) and, if you want, the Last name.
  3. Enter the Phone in E.164 format, with the + sign and country code.
  4. Confirm the send. The card reaches the customer as a WhatsApp contact they can save directly.

Example

A customer asks to speak with technical support. The agent sends a contact card with the name "Technical Support" and phone "+15551234567" — the customer saves it and calls without having to copy the number by hand.

Tips

  • Always use the + sign and country code; without the correct E.164 format, the send fails.
  • Use this feature both for internal team contacts and for third parties (vendors, partners).

Troubleshooting

If sending fails, check that the phone is in full E.164 format (+ country code + number, no spaces or dashes). If the button doesn't appear, the 24h window may be closed.
