Send a contact card (vCard)
Share someone's details (name and phone) as a WhatsApp contact card instead of plain text.
When you need to pass along someone else's contact info (an advisor, a technician, another branch), you can send it as a WhatsApp contact card instead of typing the number as plain text. The customer can save it to their phone with a single tap.
Requirements
- Only available on WhatsApp channels.
- The 24-hour window must be open.
- The phone number must be in E.164 format (e.g. +15551234567).
Steps
- In the composer, open the send contact card button.
- Fill in the First name (required) and, if you want, the Last name.
- Enter the Phone in E.164 format, with the + sign and country code.
- Confirm the send. The card reaches the customer as a WhatsApp contact they can save directly.
Example
A customer asks to speak with technical support. The agent sends a contact card with the name "Technical Support" and phone "+15551234567" — the customer saves it and calls without having to copy the number by hand.
Tips
- Always use the + sign and country code; without the correct E.164 format, the send fails.
- Use this feature both for internal team contacts and for third parties (vendors, partners).
Troubleshooting
If sending fails, check that the phone is in full E.164 format (+ country code + number, no spaces or dashes). If the button doesn't appear, the 24h window may be closed.
