Send a CTA URL button

Send a WhatsApp message with a button that opens a link directly in the customer's browser.

Jul 11, 2026

The CTA URL button lets you send text alongside a single button that, when tapped, opens a link in the customer's browser. It's different from quick-reply buttons: here the tap doesn't come back as a message, it opens the page directly.

Requirements

  • Only available on WhatsApp channels.
  • The 24-hour window must be open.
  • The URL must use the http or https protocol.

Steps

  1. In the composer, open the CTA URL button.
  2. Type the message body (required) — the main text the customer will see.
  3. Type the button text (required), e.g. "Visit site" or "View catalog".
  4. Paste the destination URL (required), starting with http:// or https://.
  5. Check the preview and confirm the send.

Example

The agent wants the customer to see the online catalog. They type the body "Check out all our updated products", the button text "View catalog", and the URL "https://store.example.com/catalog". The customer receives the message and, tapping the button, the catalog opens in their browser.

Tips

  • Use short, action-oriented button text ("See more", "Book now", "Pay").
  • If you need the tap to come back as a trackable reply inside the chat, use a quick-reply button instead (see the article on interactive buttons and lists).

Troubleshooting

If the send fails with an invalid URL error, check that the link starts with http:// or https:// and has no spaces.
