Organization session timeout
Set how long a session can sit idle before Omnifox automatically signs members out.
What it is
The session timeout controls how many minutes a user's session can stay idle before Omnifox signs it out automatically. It's useful for teams sharing devices, handling sensitive customer data, or simply wanting a stronger safeguard against sessions left open and forgotten.
Requirements
- Owner or Admin role (the
settings.managepermission).
Steps
- Go to Settings > Security.
- Find the Session timeout field.
- Enter the value in minutes (minimum 15, maximum 10,080 = 7 days).
- Click Save changes.
Configuration
- The value is measured in minutes; the default is
480(8 hours), built for a standard workday. - Allowed range: 15 to 10,080 minutes.
- The same Security page lists your own active sessions (device, IP, last activity) and lets you revoke any of them except the one you're currently using.
Example
Your team works 10-hour shifts and you don't want them logged out mid-shift, so you set 600 minutes (10 hours). If instead you handle very sensitive data and prefer short-lived sessions, you might use 60 (1 hour).
Tips
- Match the value to your team's actual shift length — a timeout shorter than a shift causes unexpected sign-outs mid-work.
- Pair it with a regular review of active sessions to catch access from a device or location you don't recognize.
Troubleshooting
- Agents get signed out too often: raise the minute value — the timeout is probably shorter than their working hours.
- I see a session from an unfamiliar device or location: go to Settings > Security, find it in the active sessions list and click revoke, then consider changing your password.
